Salto del LimonSalto del LimonThe peninsula of Samana disposes of hills, large palm tree forests, wild rivers, as well as long beaches. The climate is mild during the whole year. The national park Los Haitises is often used for filming adventure or survivor movies, as they are being broadcasted in Europe at the moment. The inhabitants live in perfect harmony with foreigners, such as Italians, French, Germans etc. Some well known people as for instance Shakira or Julio Iglesias have bought big lots of land and built their house on it, since nature is so beautiful and in an original state.

A well known tourist attraction to visit is called "Salto del Limon", a cascade in the mountain area of the peninsula. You will be riding on a horseback to the cascade with a guide and enjoy swimming in the sweet water of the cascade.

Another well known place to visit is the island Cayo Levantado"Cayo Levantado", where the movie for the commercial of Bacardi Rum has been filmed in the middle of the 80s of the last century. Since then, many thousands of tourists arrive on the island after their whale trip. The island invites you with its wonderful beaches to relax, swim, have a good local meal or any other activity like snorkeling. Another place to go where thousands of tourists arrive every year is the village of Las Terrenas on the north coast of the peninsula. Long beaches invite you to swim and relax and nature can still be observed in its original state when visiting for example the Playa Bonita, a few kilometers outside of Las Terrenas. Eventhough many people arrive in this town every year, Dominicans and tourists live in harmony.

All mentioned places and attractions can be reached within maximum 40 minutes, some of them in a much shorter time.

Nature and vegetation is still in its original state in most places. Many species of plants and animals grow very well in this subtropical climate. Other places to visit are for instance the Playa Rincon, one of the most gorgeous beaches in the Caribbean, or the national park Los Haitises, where caves of the indigene people, the Tainos, can be visited.

Agriculture produces products like coffee, rice, cacao or peanuts, as well as fruit like pineapple or papaya and many other vegetables.
